This sounds like an interesting premise. I’ll be adding it to my reading list. The title got me thinking about After London by Richard Jeffries. He was a nature writer, so the initial descriptions of the post apocalyptic London are full of wonderful descriptions of a natural world that has recovered from the industrial ravages of Jeffries’ age. I wonder whether it served as inspiration at all?
Wow, I had no idea about After London. It sounds amazing - I just added it to my TBR, thank you! A lot of non-fiction inspired me, particularly The World Without Us (Alan Weisman). Marlen Haushofer's The Wall was also a big inspiration.
Jeffries is probably a better nature writer than novelist, but it’s interesting as an early example of the post apocalyptic genre. I didn’t know about The Wall, I will check it out.
Wonderful! Two more books for my reading list. I’m fascinated by the intersection of eco consciousness and human tech beyond the usual doom scenarios. Also, how good are macro lenses for your phone!
No way! I use a Moment lens too - they are fantastic. I’ve only ever done stills - I’m now inspired to try some video too. Lovely to see your photos on IG, thanks :)

I have an iphone and use this lens by Moment (https://www.shopmoment.com/products/75mm-macro-mobile-lens-t-series) - you do need a special phone case and I found something like this to be necessary to steady the camera (https://www.shopmoment.com/products/open-box-moment-mobile-filmmaker-cage-for-magsafe). You can see some of my macro photos on IG - https://www.instagram.com/debbieurbanski/. I've had fun taking macro videos of insects too. Someday I want to get an actual camera but this is working for me for now. It's really fun.

No pressure but if you want to see some of the macro videos, there are some here...https://www.youtube.com/@DebbieUrbanski468/shorts - you should totally try it!
Fascinating. I love hearing about a writer’s process.
